Playing for change, singing for peace

Style : Hip-Hop
Pays : RDC Goma

Vijana-Up (youth and children rise up) is a dance project which began in Goma in 2014.

They organize free lessons and activities around Hip-Hop dance and culture three times a week in youth centres. These sessions create a space for children living in the streets and those living with their families to meet, share and express themselves.

Through these activities, VIJANA-UP tries to build a caring environment for these youths, where they can focus on their futures. The group also aims to help youths reintegrate academic and family circles and inspire them to pursue vocational education.

These activities are a means through which youths and children could be “brought back” into an environment which is more positive and constructive for their future.
