An outstanding Grammy Award-winning performer, alternating singing and dancing with incomparable grace, charismatic and powerful, Dobet Gnahoré generously takes the audience on board.
With her new album "MIZIKI" released in May 2018, the multi-talented Ivorian resonates with African sounds mixed with electronic samples, a subtle blend that reveals a music in her own image, free.
Author, composer and performer, Dobet loves African music (Yemi Alade, Miriam Makeba, Brenda Fassie) but also revels Björk or Christine and the Queens... Born far from the city, at the age of six she met her father in Abidjan, a renowned master percussionist who helped found the village of Ki Yi M'bock where he was living at the time. A place of utopian experience, one works there from 5am: music, dance, theatre, everything is there to fully become an artist. In this village, all nationalities meet and African stars come to sniff the ambient emulation: Ray Lema, Youssou N'Dour, Salif Keita, Lokua Kanza are regulars.
In 2010 by the voice of India Arie, Dobet won a Grammy Award. In the same year, The Guardian newspaper named her performance "best performance at the WOMAD festival".
